Why You Need a Flight Reservation for Your Canada Visitor Visa (TRV)
When applying for a Canada Visitor Visa (TRV), Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) requires proof of your intended travel. This typically includes a round-trip flight itinerary showing your planned arrival and departure dates. However, purchasing an actual ticket before your visa is approved carries significant financial risk — if your application is rejected, you lose the cost of the ticket or face steep cancellation fees.
A flight reservation document (also called a "dummy ticket" or "flight itinerary for visa") solves this problem. It's a reservation-style document issued with a unique booking reference and a QR code that embassy staff can scan to instantly verify authenticity through our secure portal. Unlike a purchased ticket, you only pay a small fee ($10) and avoid cancellation losses.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a flight reservation accepted for Canada Visitor Visa (TRV)?
Most applicants submit a flight reservation rather than a paid ticket; Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) decides what it accepts, so check your checklist. Ours carries a QR-verifiable booking reference.
How can the embassy verify my booking?
Every PDF document includes a secure QR code that links to our verification portal. Embassy staff — or any third party — can scan the QR code to instantly confirm the booking is authentic and was issued by Onward Itinerary. The reference is issued by Onward Itinerary, so it is verified on our portal, not on airline websites.
How long is the flight reservation valid?
Choose from 48 hours ($5), 72 hours ($7), 1 month ($10), 3 months ($15) or 6 months ($20). Select a validity that covers your visa processing time (12-30 days (varies by country)).
Can I get a refund if my visa is denied?
You can request a full refund any time before you download your PDF; once downloaded, the document is delivered and non-refundable, including if the visa is denied. You still save hundreds compared to buying a real ticket.
