Why You Need a Flight Reservation for Your Schengen Visa
When applying for a Schengen Visa, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Greece, Portugal, and 19 other member states requires proof of your intended travel. This typically includes a round-trip flight itinerary showing your planned arrival and departure dates. However, purchasing an actual ticket before your visa is approved carries significant financial risk — if your application is rejected, you lose the cost of the ticket or face steep cancellation fees.
A flight reservation document (also called a "dummy ticket" or "flight itinerary for visa") solves this problem. It's a reservation-style document issued with a unique booking reference and a QR code that embassy staff can scan to instantly verify authenticity through our secure portal. Unlike a purchased ticket, you only pay a small fee ($10) and avoid cancellation losses.
